FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q Will there be free parking with accessible spaces for disabled patients, those with children and other patients that may require these spaces?

A There will be 24 parking spaces dedicated for use by practice visitors only. These will be free to use for the duration of the visit to the practice and the allocation will include some accessible spaces. The practice will manage the parking spaces.

Q There are fewer buses that go into the village compared to the number that go along the A62. Have conversations taken place with local public transport providers?

A Contact has been established with West Yorkshire Combined Authority which will share the new location of the practice with local bus operators. Any additional buses travelling through the village centre would be on a commercial basis and decided only by the bus operators.

Q Has taxpayer’s money been spent wisely and will it offer value for money?

A The additional funding required has been reviewed through the CCG’s robust governance process and in conjunction with the advice of the independent District Valuer. The relocation has been approved on the basis that the additional funding does offer value for money.

Q Will a bridge be built across the canal to access Globe Mills from the canal side?

A Yes, the developer of Globe Mills has confirmed that a new bridge will be built across the canal to ensure access to the practice from the canal side. The bridge will replace the existing bridge and will be accessible by all.

Q Where will the practice be situated within the mill conversion?

A The practice will be situated on the ground floor within the Globe Mills development. Access to the building will be from Bridge Street or the canal side. The practice will be accessible to those in wheelchairs and with pushchairs.

Q Croft House has a pharmacist in the building. Will there be a pharmacist in Globe Mills and who will it be?

A There is space allocated within the building for a community pharmacist. The pharmacist to occupy the space has yet to be agreed.

Q Globe Mills is close to the Slaithwaite Health Centre. Was a premises share with Slaithwaite Health Centre considered or any other locations in the local area?

A Some other options have been considered including a premises share with Slaithwaite Health Centre. Globe Mills offers new and accessible accommodation that is 0.3 miles from the existing premises which therefore does not adversely affect the current practice boundary.

Q Is there opportunity for the practice to acquire more space over time if additional services are added?

A While the practice will begin by occupying the agreed space, the option to acquire additional space in the future has been raised. If additional services were to be added in the future , the practice would then begin discussions with the landlord to identify any additional space and the associated cost. The cost of the additional space would be considered by the CCG through its governance procedure to determine the need and value for money.

Q Will we get a better service from the practice including better access to appointments?

A The Colne Valley Group Practice will always strive to offer an excellent standard of patient care and this will not change as a result of the relocation. It is hoped that the Globe Mills practice will attract additional clinicians to work with us which could in turn offer increased availability of appointments.

Q Why could Croft House not be re-configured to enable the practice to remain in the same location?

A The building at Croft House no longer meets the requirements for providing modern primary care services. We have added additional space to Croft House over the years however a full re-configuration of the building is not possible nor affordable under value for money terms.
